Week 27 in the Middle . . .

AMIS M.S. Honor Girls' Choir Festival:

Sincere thanks to our host families for welcoming our visiting MS choir students into your homes in support of our AMIS, (The Association for Music in International Schools), Choir Festival. Immediately following the opening assembly on Thursday morning, the girls got right to work as an ensemble - already making beautiful music together as the festival got under way.

We would like to welcome and encourage all members of the community to join us in the AISB theatre for the culminating AMIS Gala Concert at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, April 2nd.  We hope you are all able to come out to enjoy the angelic sounds of this global choral ensemble!

Parent Teacher Conferences:

Sincere thanks to our parents and students for attending conferences.  We certainly hope you were able to obtain essential information regarding your child's progress.  In an attempt to minimize wait time, we experimented with an invitation to attend based on last names and judging from the flow throughout our event, it seems that we managed to achieve success with this format.  We do appreciate your feedback and hope that you will take a few minutes to complete this survey in regard to your overall experience at conferences.

Accreditation VisitApril 2-9

This upcoming week represents a very important one for AISB.  Eleven educators from around the world will visit AISB for a week-long visit as part of our Accreditation process. Accreditation is an important and normal part of the life of a quality school. It is one of the trademarks that all parents should look for in a future school. In essence, accreditation guarantees that the school's program meets certain standards and that future educational institutions view the school, and the students within it, with confidence.

The accreditation visit is the culmination of two years of internal work at AISB. In preparation, we have solicited parent, student, and faculty feedback in shaping a thorough Self-Study of the school and to suggest areas of focus for the future. During this week long visit, the Accreditation Team will meet with many school constituents. It will culminate with the Team's conclusion regarding the school's accreditation status for future years.

While every institution is focused on improvement, we are confident in the quality of the AISB program as evidenced from student, staff, and parent data. We look forward to this evaluation process and expect to hear the Accreditation Team's conclusion in early June.

Student Life Update:
What an exciting last few days! Our AMIS guests arrived safe and sound and have had two full days of rehearsals. The Gala concert will take place this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. We sincerely hope to see many of you there.

We are already in the planning stages for our next event: CEESA MUN (Model United Nations) which will take place April, 21-24.

We will be appealing for student volunteers to help us with the International Festival. Stay tuned for more info on this soon!

The next Middle School Social will take place, Friday April 22nd from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The Blazer Barkers are gearing up for another trip to the shelter on Saturday, May 14.

MS Photography Club:

The middle school photography club learned a lot during the Winter session. We started with the "ins" and "outs" of our cameras and then progressed to various photography techniques. To put these techniques to work and practice with our cameras, we spent time taking photos in various locations around our beautiful city of Budapest!

In parallel with taking photos, we also explored various programs and methods for processing and editing photos on the computer. We had the privilege to visit Steve McCurry’s current photo exhibition at the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts. To conclude, many of us ordered a wide variety of print and framed versions of our favorite pictures.
