MS Boys and Girls Volleyball (May 8th)

Congratulations to our boys and girls volleyball teams for their terrific play against Hungarian clubs and schools last Saturday.  The girls played three very close games with a club team called Kispest and a Hungarian high school known as SGE. On the boys side, there were two separate tournaments.  Our second team had the most difficult time of all our teams over the weekend, as they played host to three local Hungarian clubs.  Keep in mind that Hungarian clubs don’t follow the three different sports seasons philosophy that we at AISB do--instead, these clubs teams play volleyball ALL year.

Our boys had a wonderful challenge playing teams with lots of skills.  On the third court, our first team boys played host to one Hungarian high school, SGE, filled with players between the ages of 16-18.  And in our hardest game of all, against a Hungarian club DAG, we found ourselves in a very tough fight for every single point: NOTE: out of 95 teams in Hungary, Dag finished 5th place in the Hungarian National championships this year!

MS Track & Field at Warsaw! (May 7th and 8th)

The SCIS tournament in Warsaw proved to be an awesome experience for our Middle School Track and Field team. We had a number of personal best’s being broken from Florence Ferenczi-Martin in the 800M, Vida Thompson in the Long Jump, Nico Rullo in the 1500M and Arian Mercadente in the 800M. Kyang Chung Min improved on his personal best in both the Discus and the Shot Put and Jeremy Kwon made it to the final of the 100M.

Aiden Fayarchuk was a star performer in the 400M and 800M. He won gold in each event and broke the school record in these events. Aiden also starred with Nico Rullo, Jeremy Kwon and Keegan Zavits in the 4x400 Meters. In this event the boys led from the front to win gold. They smashed the school record by a whopping 15 seconds! Keegan Zavits also had an impressive performance, winning silver in the Shot Put. Laura Seregi also won a silver medal in the High Jump.

We will hear from the teams about how they did later as the team are still coming back into Budapest. We have some photos to share below and an early congratulations out to the Girls Soccer team which won the CEESA event in a penalty kick shootout!

Many thanks to the coaches and assistants who helped make this weekend possible for our student athletes.
